The Importance of Tension in Horror Novels
"A solid 60 to 70% of every horror novel is just slice of life," says director Sam Raimi. "If we don't have that grounding and we don't love them, then whatever conflicts they experience won't mean anything to us." The tension in this story comes from knowing all the backstory between these characters who are going to meet at some point.
