In the 19 sixties and seventies, devasse believed that those values were under threat from the rise of the welfare state. At the time, conservative christians hadn't become yet a potent political force but the makings of the movement were there. The sexual revolution, the supreme court's rovy wade ruling, the pornography wars, the white backlash to de segregation, the back lash to the women's live lib movement all had an impact on divoce’s thinking.
