The Confusion Over When to Get a Booster Shot After Testing Positive for COVID-19
The current CDC guidance states that people are only required to wait until the end of their isolation period to get a booster after they've been infected with COVID-19. Some immunology experts believe that waiting four to six months may result in a better immune response than a booster dose, producing stronger and longer lasting immunity. For some individuals, depending on their risk for severe disease and the level of exposure they have in their daily lives, this may not be a risk that they're willing to take. The FDA is considering allowing permissive language for those at least six months out who may be at increased risk for serious illness to get an additional booster shot.
