He was first arrested when he was 14 years old for stealing and his criminal record continued to escalate from there. He would end up serving five years total in a juvenile reformatory where he was not reformed. In May of 1955, 25-year-old Bulger took part in a successful robbery in Pottecke, Rhode Island. A few months later, he did another. This one of Melrose, a suburb north of Boston. Around three years after leaving the Air Force, he had to work in odd jobs. It never paid what he wanted and probably after a fair amount of petty crime lost to history.
