What Is a Share Buyback?

A share buyback is when a company that has shares the trade on a stock chain buys back its own shares. By decreasing the total number of shares, they're actually increasing the value of each one. "If you think about a company as being kind of like a pie, to use my example again, if you're going to buy one share, that means you're getting 1 millionth of the company," he says.
