The Role of the Retina in Vision
Peter's condition stems from a problem with the photoreceptors that sit in the back of our eyes. But how do they work? As we've learned throughout this series, we sense the world around us through receptors. These molecules essentially convert to stimulus like sound waves for hearing or chemicals for smell. The same is true of the Photoreceptors in our eyes: rod cells and cone cells give us colour vision but not peripheral vision.
