The Importance of Empathy in UX

I find a lot of people, try to tell me, well, what I was doing before was really UX. My next question is always, which UX process did you use and tell me how you used it in the course of your work? And if you can't answer that, then whatever it was, probably wasn't UX. So just because you had some sort of job where you had to deal with humans and not be a jerk, doesn't mean you did UX. If you're a career transitioner, I don't expect you to have any or a lot of experience in UX. It's usually not true.
