Police Raids and Arrests

This chapter discusses the police raids that occurred during negotiations between Tuhoy and the Crown. Many leaders and claimants of the Tuhoy were arrested, leading to the trial of four individuals known as the Uruweir of Four. Tameh Iti, one of the Uruweir of Four, prepares for his court trial and quotes Maori leader Tukuti. Despite being cleared of more serious charges, Iti is sentenced to two and a half years for possession of firearms. The chapter also highlights the excessive raids and surveillance by the police, leading to protests and renewed negotiations between Tuhoy and the Crown.
