What's the Volume of Lake Superior?
The volume of Lake Superior is about 2,900 cubic miles and the other four lakes are less than 2,600 cubic miles. The Great Lakes were specifically formed by glaciers. There was a massive ice sheet of glaciers called the Laurentide Ice Sheet. It covered basically all of what's now Canada and a lot of the northern part of the 48 states.
