Is There Acute Transient Increases in Performance?

There are a couple different mechanisms. One of the big ways is adrenaline. They've actually done some studies now with the Wim Hof method. You're supposed to breathe through your abdomen. I think we're very poor abdominal breathers to begin with. But in Wim Hof, that's the key part. All 30 of those fast, rapid breaths are through the abdomen really pushing your stomach out on the inhale. Every time you do that, you are triggering a release of adrenaline. And then on top of that, when you start the breath hold and your CO2 starts going up, that is triggering a further release of adrenalin. It allows you to do superhuman things.
