i wanted to explain why i was doing what i was doing, r so that people could understand why. What that means is that there is imbedded in the word lesbian a series of ideas about gentr nonconformity or at least gender expansiveness. That then becomes less so over time as other terms and ways of thinking evolve. To say this is an exclusively transcendent non conforming story has nothing to do with the history of lesbianism. But i think it's just as much a mistake to say this is just a lesbian history - these are also histories in which we are implicated. And that implie s a the necessity for some kind of political solidarity in the present.
