The Importance of Religion in Liberation Movements

The question of whether or not communist movements should embrace religion is sort of kind of passé at this point. Most communist thinkers today are past the point of emphasizing atheism or insisting communism must stand against religion. So I would argue that most on those sort of principled materialists left understand to some degree, the important role that religion can play in liberation movements across nations and cultures. And it's also, it's helpful to see that liberation theology is great and a good complement to social struggles.
