In 1998 president suhato resigned after more than three decades of military rule it meant people from indigenous communities were finally free to speak out. tribal leaders seized their chance to gather at the first ever congress of indigenous people in 1999 laura jones has been speaking to ruka sombolinge who was there we're in central jakarta in 1999 and people are showing off their traditional dress to surprised onlookers this is the very first moment where all the people that form what's of all diversity coming together in the heart of indonesia.
