If we had accepted a neutralized ukrane, i can't think of any post war case where a country has done thatwher. I don't think puton wanted a balanced ukrane. He wanted a completely d militarized, disarmed, neutral ucrane. We could have invited ukrane into nato, yes, but that would have involved accepting a country that has an open conflict with russia into the alliance and defending it in a war against russia.
