Foreign Policy - A Step in the Right Direction

i think it was a net positive. There is a concrete problem here, the erosion of racy from within and the rise of authoritarianism from without. It's just the first step, but it's a needed one. Get people talking about it, raise profile of these issues. A second summit will hopefully generate some pressure on the participating governments to show what they have done. I'm less troubled by the inevitable contradictions of what is a democracy. And i think also being a bit fraught and messy in public is kind of the point. This is how open democratic systems operate, not the smooth stage managed authoritarian sty either.
