The Different Criteria for Hospice Benefits
Every disease that we bring a patient on for hospice has different criteria that you need to meet. Most commercial payers will cover hospice benefit if the physician states that they meet eligibility. We use a eCOG scale for functional status to function, guides, prognosis and so does disease symptoms, symptom burden. With Alzheimer's, for example, is they need to meet a fast criteria of seven C. That means that cognitively they've reached a point where the cognition is affecting their movement, pain movement, that they are not able to walk anymore.
