Paying for Rent Moratoriums
There's no such thing as a free lunch. You're either going to pay an inflation or you're paying higher interest rates. And as you raise interest rates, you're going to get a bunch of people not buying cars and not buying houses. When you impose rent controls with the intent of helping people who can't afford their rent, you make it less profitable for landlords to offer housing. Therefore, you get less housing and then the quantity of housing available declines.
