The Role of Interest Rates in the Bankruptcy
Amit Saru is the Stephen and Roberta Denning Professor of Finance at the Graduate School of Business at Stanford. He released a working paper that he'd been working on for a couple of months on exactly the issues that brought Silicon Valley Bank down. Amit: When banks get their funds, they get their funds primarily from deposits who are promised a low interest rate. And now suddenly you saw a spike in the interest rates. That clearly has an effect on the value of the securities.
