Using a Tip and Slip Technique to Reduce a PIP Dislocation

The PIP is analogous to the knee and the elbow. If we traction these too much, we actually can impede or decrease our likelihood of being able to reduce them. This is one where more finesse is involved rather than actual brute strength and pulling. It's a nice simple technique where you're not actually pulling on it because pulling can impede the reduction. So wrist flexion is important. And even if you put a good block in, some patients are really anxious, are really nervous, are worried about what you're doing. We need to think about that for all joint dislocations that are challenging. Yeah, it sounds strange to have an open reduction for an IP dislocation,
