The Pros and Cons of Choosing a Publishing Direction for a Memoir

It used to be that the rule was don't even think of handing something into an American publisher and on anything under 75,000 words. There are still old time editors who like to have the heft of a book. But what I've seen, especially in this generation of younger writers, is much shorter copy. So I encourage people not to set a word count in their own minds and hearts.
