Around the fourth century, japan and korea were kind of getting to know each other. They all shared really, really, really far back ancient ancestors. The problem with this is that chinese characters are really hard and complicated. So what they did was make a writing system lled manyogana,. which was taking characters from chinese and basically using them just for their ponetic component so the pronunciation. Eventually people were like, this is a terrible idea; Let's try to make this japanese.
