Jesus Emptied Himself, the Word Equal to God Is Iso Theo, and It's Not What This Hymn Is About.
The hymn is arguably the earliest thing that we have, any christian writing ever. There's a lot of politics in this hymn. Jesus did not consider equality with god a thing to be grasped. Emperors were considered equal to god. And if you wanted to become an emperor, you would throw your hat into the ring. You would say, i am isotheo. I amequal to god. I am going to go for the job of caesar. This is not what this hymn is about. It isn't a hymn describing what it's like for the trinity to become a human,. For god give off god's power and become a lowly human being
