Sarah Lancashire plays Catherine K. Wood in Happy Valley, a TV show you will have heard me talk about before. She says crime is going to be one of the key battlegrounds at the next election. Labour is pitching itself as the party of law and order with this neighbourhood police guarantee offer. It's on this key point of neighbourhood officers, which is really popular among communities. So it's a win-win in terms of votes. The question I think is, with 80 months or so to go before the election, will the Conservatives steal the idea?
