The Mechanism of Dispersive Waves

Waves of different periods together with that different wavelengths, they travel at different speeds. That allows for a mechanism where I can make different waves, meaning different period, and I can let them go. And that is indeed, if you like, half of the mechanism of linear focusing. The faster traveling waves are just catching up with the slowly traveling waves and that leads to these tall waves.
