Psychiatry has been held back by the medical model where you say, are you depressed or not? Are you alcoholic or not? But if you know who are alcoholic, the prestesgitsmen. You don't wake up one day in your alcoholic it's a long, slow process. Some people function better with very high levels of alcohol than other people. There's a strong sense in psychiatry now that we've done a diservice to people by pretending that we can diagnose these things precisely.
