The King's First Response to the Book of the Torah

When the king heard the words of the book of the Torah, his very first reaction really tells you everything. He tore his clothes. Sometimes when you tear your clothes and you're wearing your garments, it's because you're extremely distraught about something. It doesn't have to do necessarily with grief over losing someone's you law, but it can be over just this intense expression of a negative sort of emotion.
