What Is the Truth Drive?
Dillan: Wright gives a litany of reasons as to why we would be confused about the truth drive. There's a pride and possession of the intellect that is like a blinding fog over the eyes of men, he says. And then this function of self preservation, which also leads us into dissimulation, flattering, lying - all those sorts of things play an important role in social life. If you can puff yourself up and present an image of yourself in on your fellows as being of a superior class, say, than them,then that is a weapon right there that is enshrined in convention.
