Asylum Seekers in Limbo
Cardinal Brown is a former immigration policy advisor in the Bush and Obama Administrations. He says asylum seekers find themselves in limbo, unable to legally work. Edward and Maria who met in college in Venezuela asked us not to use their last names out of concern for their relatives back home. It took them six weeks this summer to get to the United States with their nine-year-old son and one- year-old daughter They're now living in a hotel in the Bronx that was turned into an emergency shelter but without work permits.
