Behind the Bastards

CHAPTER

The History of Burma

Burma has a longer history of dictatorship than democracy. The country became a major battle grinder in the second world war, with japan invading and seizing the country. After two years of occupation, ongsan and his comrades changed sides to liberate their country. In 19 93 Burmese people took control of every aspect of their lives. But like much of the nation's history, a grand proclamation from the government didn't mean much on the ground. Many groups still use burman as an ethnic name for themselves instead of marian.
