Hamas controls part of the Palestinian polity but not the entirety of it. I think that unity per force pushes people in the direction of Hamas and even Mahmoud Abbas the head of the PLO and Fatah has felt compelled to make statements in support of the resistance. That's certainly not unique to Palestinian politics by any means. We're moving toward a final confrontation between Israel and Hamas or does Hamas emerge strengthened from this?
