Are Consumers Slowing Down Because They Want To?
A big part of the initial decline in consumer spending during the pandemic was that people weren't willing to spend on certain services where they worried about getting COVID. In 2021, a big driver of that blowout consumption growth was that people became more willing. That's actually extended into 2022, especially in the spring of this year. We've probably come most of the way we're going to come.
