The Origins of Seaweed in the Orkney Islands
The use of seaweed as a source of animal feed goes back to the Neolithic. Archaeozoologist looked at teeth of sheep skulls found at Neolithic sites on Orkneys. If you eat seaweed and you're a sheep, you get a very different trace on the tooth surface than if you eat grass. This is all to do with the way that sheep eat and the bracelets that are ingested along with the food.
