Phyllostratus' Apollonius is not concerned with doctrinal niceties or metaphysics, but with concrete representations of philosophic power. His wisdom allows him to perform miracles, such as raising the dead and appearing in two places at the same time. He doesn't seek to teach philosophy, but to exercise power through his mastery of it.
