Understanding Math Is a Different Kind of Understanding

understanding math is quite different from simply being good at calculating. One requires building up procedurea skill through repeated use, and another requires crafting more articulate theories. Ultimately, it may be simply that there is no singular process behind understanding. Instead of seeking a single way of understanding, we must guide our practice by asking ourselves more specific questions about what we want to do with what we learn.
