What Makes It Newsworthy?
The story starts in Sacramento and then spreads locally and then spreads nationally. That's a perfect description of how news stories spread in the 1890s. It's as if, you know, people saw weird things in the sky and then it traveled to everywhere that had the internet. And I'm sure that what happened is that the story sold at Cott People's Attention and other people got in on it.
