The Effect of Belief System on Memory

Belief system has a really big effect. We are susceptible to forming false memories about events that are congruent with our beliefs. Not only do we forget ones that are inconsistent, we create them that are consistent with our Beliefs. And it can lead to creating new memories, cherry picking information or forgetting things that are inconsistent. All of those things go to that ultimate goal of maintaining a positive self view and maintaining our belief systems. But even scientists, you know, they're not immune to it too. I've read so many research papers that they just put in the evidence that they want in there. They cherry pick studies and sometimes it isn't with malice. Sometimes it is.
