i just find it very hard to believe that there's going to be like, some simulacrum of real life that practically is good enough that you wouldn't even know. I feel like the fact that it won't actually achieve the precision of real life is baked in as one of the selling points. It never actually will be as as meaningful or as rich as your actual experience. But meaning and richness come with all sorts of nasty complications and and uncertainties and pain - what if you could just do away with all of that? i have faith that james is absolutely right.
