What Kind of Personal Toll Did This Activism Take on Hamer?

Hamer was a woman of faith, and this is really important when we think about her political activism. She believed that all the work that she was doing was divinely ordained. Her approach was, i'm just going to keep pushing and pushing and pushing. But it took a toll. You know, at one point she was in a picket line and just fainted because she was so concerned about everyone elseit seemed, far more than herself. I mean, certainly we have to be committed to the cause of liberation, but we do have to think about self care too.
