My Grandmother's Blindness - Is She a Scientist?

My aunt describes what she can remember about my grandmother as a working scientist. She had a white lab coat that said M E E I on it and never worked full time. Leona went to visit a hospital with surprisingly unsophisticated equipment, not an incubator in sight - despite their widespread use in England. And one of the things Leona commented on was that the little beds were adorable; each tiny, tiny baby was in a bed with sheets and pillows and little blankets and the English bolster under the pillow.
