Mendelssohn dedicated this piece to his friend Edward Reitz, a virtuosic violinist. He didn't disappoint him with writing full of dramatic flair. Ecstasy is the best word I can use to describe this music. Just wait for the final part where he writes for the entire exposition to be repeated.
