The Exile of Israel
God said to Abraham, I will bless you and you will be what? A blessing. That's a Hebrew way of saying I'm going to put the human project back on track through you. How did Israel do? Revealed Testament. Pastor fail. King David was really great until about his mid 40s and then there was a fiasco with a roof and a tanning incident. Then King Solomon. And you have King after King. Nobody, no king can usher in the kingdom of God. So finally, you end up in exile. All of Israel is dragged a thousand miles away into slavery in Babylon. They were not even free.
