Getta had been popular across the social spectrum. Many in his inner circle would suspect Caracalla of treachery and be looking for revenge. So Getta's friends and associates became caught up in one of the largest bloody purges in Roman history. Thousands and thousands and thousands of people died. Most of them guilty of nothing more than being within six degrees of separation from his hated brother.
