The History of Trafficking
The term "trafficking" was first used in the early 1900s to refer to white women and girls being trafficked for commercial sexual exploitation. Over time, it's been expanded to cover a range of human behavior that includes everything from drug use to child pornography. The word trafficking doesn't criminalize those who are trying to cross the border but makes them into collateral or evidence.
