Max Broad and Fisowski were distinguished writers themselves, but achieved a kind of selflessness when they came into contact with someone that they unmistakably discerned to be a genius. There's something poetic in the fact that the novel, unfinished or were just unavailable, has as its theme something messianic,. given the dreadful life-killing circumstances in which he lived, messianic hope is quite understandable. And I think that he also had a sense that the messianic impulse was pressed deep into the soul of the Jewish people.
