The Global North Should Like Degrowth a Bit
Growth in people is a very diverse crowd. It's hard to work out whether to attack the best version of this or think of like the kind of more naive versions, which I think there are definitely smart versions of degrowth to some extent. But it does, it doesn't seem like degrowth people are advocating for this kind of thing. They have more of an intuitive sense that growth itself is bad. And I think this is just a misplaced notion that the growth itself isbad. The externalities produced by the growth can be bad, but there's no reason it's not necessarily the case that growth has to produce this negative externalities.
