Every competitive trading card game draws from magic in some way. chess is, to me, the world's most perfect example of a symmetrical game. The idea is you want to use your cards in a better way than the other player uses their cards. You just don't have any idea what the other person is playing in their hand. And the thing about magic, which i think is unique compared to other games, is the number of cards are enormous.
