The Flat Line

Gustav Mernick's poem, "Aphorism," opens with a passage about newspapers moving in the wind. The narrator wonders what if we ourselves are dancing out this kind of unknowable, unpredictable dance. And he says that there's just this wind that we cannot see that is blowing through us and causing us to move. This can be thought of as part of the flat line where those two ideas meet.
