The Importance of Personal Taste in Design

Having personal taste is useful for you as an individual, even working on your own stuff. It gives you something to kind of rely on for your own work and your own point of view. A person with good taste recognises that instinctively and can see it almost immediately when they look at something. And so yeah, it must be hard to have this sort of feedback session, let's say, or a critique session with someone else who doesn't quite have the same level of understanding.
