Ri: The first chapter of my new book is about the modern chinese painter. I'm particularly interested in how travel and new travel infa structures helped create this type of personality in china. When you dive into the primary materials of a republican china and piazi china, you immediately encounter a very different word for 'modern artist' Ri: My book didn't challenge the purilization but it actually confirms that. It's an attempt to construct an idea of the art world that's closer am to what was happening then. i cannot emphasize enough the demise of the orther change the challenges the role of a modern artist.
