Use Cases for Data Catalogs

Data engineers often think of data catalogs as a monolith like a catalog for my warehouse, maybe a handful of other sources. But the way you're describing a data catalog, it really cuts across all your data and that's also why many use cases are not this enterprise, enterprise and passion kind of thing. I would argue that data catalogs will evolve into some kind of search engine like capability in components. Those are the three main main use cases for data catalogs: governance, innovation data analytics, and, and everyday use simply looking up stuff like the SOP for cleaning this lab or even what's for once, who's sitting next to me?
